Tips to apply back tags:
Make sure the area where the tag will sit on the cow is clean of debris.

With a LIGHTLY DAMP cloth (not dripping wet), wipe the back of each tag before applying glue. A SMALL amount of moisture seems to help Tag Cement set up better on the tag and to the hair.

Apply a pattern using Tag Cement. One tube should do 10 or fewer cows and 1 cartridge should do 22 or fewer cows. For an extra secure bond for a special show I recently also added Winner’s Brand Adhesive (used for show cattle), with one spray lengthwise down the centre of the tag, then a Tag Cement pattern immediately over top.

Once the tag is applied to the cow, run your hand over the tag to smooth it onto the cow and work glue into the hair. This will help the glue to better saturate and create a better bond.

Avoid animal crowding, cows jumping/riding or heavy handling immediately afterward. Giving space for the herd to settle afterward will help the glue bond cure without loosening/weakening.

When using cartridges, have a few tubes on hand as well. Once opened, a cartridge cannot be resealed, whereas tubes have a cap that can be opened and resealed as needed.

I recommend the following pattern for Tag Cement:
